What are things I should consider before starting?
Things you can do before calling are:
1. Take some pictures of the room.
2. Have ideas on how to rearrange your furniture.
3. Clip articles and pictures of images that are similar to what you are looking for.
4. Discuss ways in which to fund your project.
5. Make a list of questions you have for the electrician.
6. It is always a good idea to consider putting aside 10%-15% above and beyond your project budget for extras you may want to add or unforeseen conditions that could add to the cost of your project.

Are there building codes and violations I should be aware of?
You should consider that an upgrade or remodel of an existing structure could require electrical code updates that could affect the cost of your project. You should always consider having a licensed professional do your projects to avoid code violations or dangerous situations where you could get hurt or jeopardize the well being of others. Check with your City or County Office for code updates and code violations.
